23rd National Mothers' Center Conference The National Association of Mothers� Centers was proud to hold their 23rd annual National Conference entitled Mothering Matters on November 12-14th ,2004 at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel in Parsippany, NJ.
The goal of Mothering Matters was to provide information and bring together Mothers� Center members from across the country, along with community organizations, parents, and educators who are or would like to be engaged in advocating or supporting the work of mothers. This year�s keynote speaker was Lorri Slepian, one of the founding mothers of the first Mothers� Center. A special panel entitled �Can We Talk? Voices of Today�s Mothers� Movement� was convened by and moderated by Lorri on Saturday November 13th. The panel included author Ann Crittenden, Peggy O�Mara, Publisher and Editor of Mothering Magazine, Judith Stadtman Tucker founder and editor of Mother�s Movement Online, and Enola G. Aird, Director of The Motherhood Project . Workshops throughout the weekend covered topics related to parenting, advocacy, women's issues and a special program for teens ages 13 - 17.
