"Instantly, I felt connected. I saw moms who were in the same stage of life, also needing assistance and affirmation... Not only did I find answers, I felt wanted and needed. I made friends. True friends. My kids made friends. Others valued my opinion as a mom."
NAMC Receives Grants from United Way Success By Six, Long Island Fund for Women & Girls, and Bar Association's We Care Committee

The NAMC received grant funding from United Way of Long Island's Success By Six program in partnership with Family Place Libraries to pilot Mothers' Center discussion groups for library patrons in 12 libraries in Nassau and Suffolk Counties in NY. This exciting program brings parents the opportunity to share their experiences of parenting, to learn from each other's ideas, to tap into resources in the community and to participate in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment for themselves and their children.

Funding for "Circle of Caring" groups to serve women suffering and recovering from postpartum depression has been given to the NAMC by the Long Island Fund for Women & Girls, as well as the We Care Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. This funding has allowed Mothers' Center facilitators to attend a specialized training on postpartum mood disorders that surpasses what many health professionals currently receive in their training. These specially trained facilitators are now offering "Circle of Caring" groups. This is a joint project of the NAMC and the Postpartum Resource Center of NY.
