NAMC's CEASEFIRE in the "Mommy Wars" Campaign Highlighted
Valerie Young, NAMC's Advocacy Coordinator, was interviewed for an article printed in the Cincinnati Enquirer, highlighting the NAMC's CEASEFIRE in the "Mommy Wars" Campaign. Launched by its MOTHERS Initiative for Mother's Day 2006, this on-line petition has gathered close to 5,000 signatures to date and new supporters are signing on every day. MOTHERS is bringing the message out loud and clear that women are not buying into the concept of stay-at-home moms warring with working mothers and vice versa. Changes in public policy, workplace policies and cultural norms that support people so they can do their best at caring for their families as well as be successful at work would benefit not only all mothers, but also fathers and people who are not parents.
