This past week I spent hours going through my kids’ closets…
- Digging out the halter tops and shorts
- Determining which outfits no-longer seemed to fit
- Making lengthy lists of what they need as the seasons change
This is a ritual that I perform (at the very least) 2 times each year. As a mother to three children I spend too much A LOT of time and money making sure my kids are properly clothed. (We all know how hard it can be to keep up with the wardrobe of children who tend to grow like weeds.)
Interestingly enough, I have YET to do the same in my own closet. I keep putting it off, even though I am in desperate need of a little closet organization and a few clothing staples.
In general, prioritizing my own needs often feels like such a sacrifice…
Yet taking care of ourselves is an important lesson to pass down to our children.
With that in mind, the National Association of Mothers’ Centers recently took steps to clean out our own “cyber” closet and prioritize our online home.
2013 Redesign and Update of the NAMC Home Page
I am proud and excited to announce the updated National Association of Mothers’ Center website. A place which upon arrival should now give those both familiar with and new to our organization an immediate knowledge of what we focus on:
Motherhood • Work/Life • Advocacy
- Visit our new Motherhood page to find or easily learn how to start a Mothers’ Center Group
- Stop by our Work/Life page to read up on our Work/Life programs—including our upcoming Work/Life Conference
- Look through our Advocacy page to learn more about our advocacy efforts for mothers, parents and caregivers
As an organization the National Association of Mothers’ Centers works hard to build a community of women, who through support and advocacy, explore, enrich and value the maternal experience. Lucille Ball once said the wise words, “Love Yourself and everything else falls into line.” Now that we’ve place more value on our online home, we are better able to serve you—those who might need our resources and support most.
It just goes to show that many times remembering and placing value in yourself doesn’t only help you, but can also helps others.
Which leads me back to my own personal closet…
A closet filled with old, outdated, out-of-season clothes that I am bound and determined to attack and rebuild—effective NOW.
