Motherhood of the Traveling Book

Mothers’ stories are being collected from Mothers’ Centers around the world and gathered in a book that is being physically carried and passed on from place to place – sort of like the “Motherhood of the Traveling Book”.

The Mothers’ Centers International Network for Empowerment (mine) is inviting Mothers’ Centers from around the world to participate in the creation of a Mothers’ Centers Story Telling Book.  This hand-made, hand-written narrative book will reach all countries where there are Mothers’ Centers, which includes 22 different countries and totals more 800 Mothers’ Centers.  The result will be a rich history covering 25+ years from the Mothers’ Centers International Network and 34+ years from the National Association of Mothers’ Centers members.  The book will commemorate the first International Mothers’ Centers Day (October 10, 2010).

So far, the book has travelled from Vienna to Amsterdam to Munich and Buenos Aires. New York, is the next stop! The Mothers Center members in Argentina have put out a call for anyone flying from Buenos Aires to New York to assist in personally carrying the book on its journey to the US National Association of Mothers' Centers located in Jericho NY.   After its stay in the US the book will continue its journey to Canada, Jamaica, Germany, Austria, Italy, the Czech republic and Slovakia where it will be shared at the International Mothers’ Center conference in November.  From there, the book will travel to Bulgaria, Bosnia, Cameroon, Kenya, Nepal, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Uganda.
