Sept 22 2008: Step Up for Kids Day

Child advocates gathered at the Nassau County Legislature on Monday, September 15th, 2008 in a show of solidarity and strength to support children's issues. Mothers' Center members were presented with a proclamation by a local representative. Mothers' Center board member, Karen Horowitz is 7th from the left in the back row. Executive Director, Linda Lisi Juergens is the second person to the right of Karen. NAMC Communications Project Manager, Viviana Russell is the last person in the first row standing. This was the start of more activities to come including: HANDS project - Children from all over Long Island will cut out outlines of their hands for a display that will be posted at the Long Island Children's musuem on October 14th. The message: Here are thousands of children's hands from Long Island, now they are in your hands - please keep children's issues in mind when making policy decisions. Petitions being collected through October 13th - voters add their names to agree to keep children's issues in mind when voting for candidates in the election. |
