Welcome from the Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the website of the National Association of Mothers' Centers (NAMC), where mothers make a difference every day: as moms and caregivers; in their untiring efforts to establish Mothers' Centers in their communities; as employees juggling often competing responsibilities at both work and home; as advocates for their children and families.
My involvement with the NAMC began as a new mother looking for adult discussion and support for the many decisions about my daughter's care that needed to be made many times each day. This organization started out as a research project exploring the unmet needs of mothers; it has grown into a multi-faceted, forward thinking group, providing support and connection for mothers and other caregivers. More broadly, the NAMC works to bring about social change in work/life issues, women's health, and in public policies affecting mothers and their families.
Please join our efforts to raise the level of visibility and respect that mothering and caregiving deserve. Support the NAMC by starting or joining a Mothers' Center program. Support the NAMC as an individual member. Sign up for our eNews email updates. Read and post to our blogs. Attend a webinar. Make a donation. Attend one of our events. Connect us to others who share our passion for supporting mothers. Volunteer your time and talents to further our vision of a society that cares for caregivers.
You can learn more about all of the different aspects of our work--and how you can be a part of it--on this site. Please take time to explore and discover all the NAMC stands for, offers, strives for, and has been working on for the past 36 years! The staff and I welcome your feedback and suggestions for the site and our work, so please don't hesitate to contact us.
Best,
Allison LaFerlita
Executive Director
