Maternal Health and Wellness

Army of Women - Love/Avon: Founded by the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and the Avon Foundation.  Offers an opportunity for you to partner with research scientists to move us beyond a cure. The Army of Women is seeking to recruit one million women nationwide to help researchers learn what causes breast cancer and move beyond a cure to prevention. Women across the U.S. are encouraged to be "one in a million" by learning more and signing up at www.armyofwomen.org.

Childbirth Connection: Founded in 1918 as Maternity Center Association. Their mission is to improve the quality of maternity care through research, education, advocacy and policy. Childbirth Connection promotes safe, effective and satisfying evidence-based maternity care and is a voice for the needs and interests of childbearing families.

Friends for Life Foundation: Aids those who are breast cancer survivors and their caregivers in a social atmosphere which provides nurturing support, understanding and friendship, as well as encouraging a common bond. They provide support to those currently in treatment, along with their families, providing scholarships, donated meals, babysitting services, cleaning services and exercise programs.

Postpartum Support International (PSI): Many women are not prepared for the wide range of emotions they may experience after childbirth. They often feel sadness, anger, anxiety, or a sense of inadequacy. The important thing to remember is that the symptoms are temporary and treatable.

Postpartum Resource Center of NY: A self-help organization established to provide emotional support, educational information and healthcare and support group referrals to mothers suffering from prenatal and postpartum depression (PPD).

MedEdPPD.org: A professional education, peer-reviewed Web site developed with the support of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to further the education of primary care providers who treat women who have or are at risk for postpartum depression (PPD), and to provide information for women with PPD and their friends and family members.
Caring and Connected Parenting: For most mothers, there is a period of time when the center of our world was a warm, soft, remarkable creature that cooed and cried in our arms. But it isn't long before we also feel we are way over our heads. We need help - the kind of help contained in The Caring and Connected Parenting Guide.

Mothers Online Networks
